The truth is that our family loves the Oklahoma State Fair!  Nothing says Americana like Ferris wheel lights, carnival rides and chocolate covered bacon.  But I’m all about the deep-fried Oreos.  So at one point, I was riding the carousel with powdered sugar on my face.
I would say my wife and IÂ turn into big kids every time we go. Â
We can’t help it! When we see how excited our kids are, we have to join in. Â We always have a blast!
One thing we didn’t notice before was the guest relations booth. Â There are several throughout the fairgrounds. Â They have lockers, sunscreen, hand sanatizer and even a phone charging station.

In years past, we would purchase ride tickets and run out pretty quickly.  This time we bought the wristbands that provided unlimited rides and man was it different.  The best time to go for us is the first day.  Since it’s usually a weekday, there are hardly any lines.  That made our experience much better. So we pretty much hit the rides from the beginning.
After a few rides, I grew hangry. Â I say every year that I’m going to try something I’ve never had. Â This year I had my heart set on a Monte Cristo crepe. Â But I passed the polish sausage stand, and I caved. Onions and peppers? Check! Â Mustard on my shorts? Check!
I’m always pushing the boundaries of how big of a bite I can take.
Lindsey’s favorite is the Indian taco. Â No onions but with sour cream of course!
We showed our kids the awesomeness of the deep-fried Twinkie.  There were deep-fried Oreos as well, but they did not survive long enough for a picture.
Before long, we were back on the rides. Â Our littlest was still too small for some of the rides but there ended up being plenty that he could ride.
One other thing to note about the rides is that the Oklahoma State Fair also has Gold Access which is an upgrade from the wristbands.  On a busy day, this access guarantees minimal wait times.  There is a separate line at each ride for Gold Access members.  Maybe next year.
Gracie was all about the games. Â She wanted to win one of the big stuffed animals.
Lindsey and I wanted to see what we would look like as superheroes.
This is me, way too excited to ram kids in bumper cars
There is so much to do, but we couldn’t do it in just one day.  So one of our kid’s favorite things to do is to head to the Oklahoma Expo Hall.  That’s because they have the City of Agtropolis.  They can plant and pick vegetables.  It’s all pretend, but they love it.  It also has pigs, alpacas, alpaca soap which is furry, an incubator, goats, bunnies, and cows.
Check out the Oklahoma State Fair’s website for all the attractions. Â
This was the best time we have ever had at the fair. Â We can’t wait until next year! Â
Maybe when we go back, I will get the chocolate covered bacon.
What’s your favorite thing to do at the fair?
Are you kidding?? The food and the concerts are the reason my husband and I go to the Tulsa State Fair every year! Ha! We occasionally take the children with us. . .
LOL, Yeah I guess the kids can come too. 🙂
