When you think of a pumpkin patch, what comes to mind? I just thought of going out to a field of pumpkins and picking the one you loved the most. I thought of leaning my kids when they were babies against the large orange fruit for a photo opp. Yes, pumpkin is a fruit. But pumpkin patches are so much more than pumpkins.
It has become a yearly event for our family to visit Orr Family Farm. There is so much to see and do, and my kids love it! We kicked off our visit on a vintage 1974 carousel.

Truett and Gracie tested their strength by seeing if they could lift a bale of hay. Together, they got it off the ground. I tried the adult version, and it didn’t work out as well.
Who doesn’t want a try at the lasso?
In one of the many red barns, there is a corn crib. And it’s filled with corn kernels. Corn is the Oklahoma version of the beach. Do you see the look on Truett’s face? If I weren’t standing right there, he would have completely buried Liam. We found corn kernels for days afterward. Some even made it to the dryer. Thankfully none of it popped.
There are plenty of photo opp locations.
They have two giant jumping pillow areas.
One of our favorite things to do are the giant tube rollers. We get a little carried away with them.
The giant slides are a hit also. All of the attractions are simple, and it’s just good old-fashioned fun.
Liam’s favorite is the petting zoo.
After doing some attractions, it was time to take a ride on the tractor over to the corn maze.
The corn maze is huge, and they usually have a game the kids can play. This time you had to find out who committed a crime. When you arrive, you get a card that you could punch a hole in each time you found a clue. And the clues were hidden throughout the maze. They also had finger colors you could find. You would dab each finger with a color. Once you reached the end, you lined up the colors you decided for each finger with a chart. And based on that you were given a fortune. Gracie’s was “you will live with gusto!” She gave it a sour look and asked: “who is Gusto?”
Once you are done with the corn maze, the kids get to pick a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch.
The best way to end the day is with a train ride that takes you around the whole farm.
There is so much more to see and do like a fireworks show, Zombie Apocolypse Paintball (kids ain’t ready for that), zip line and the list goes on. And it’s not just in the fall. They have events year round. Check out more on their website here.
