My kids don’t like facial hair. I have grown my beard out in the past to participate in No Shave November, and they gave me some crazy looks. But now there is Movember. And it’s all about mustaches. Do I dare grow a mustache? Well, I did. Or at least I’ve started. It’s actually a cool thing now. You should have seen my kids face when I first donned my sweet stache. My daughter cried, fell to her knees and pleaded with me to shave it. She said, “you can’t take us to school looking like this!” I told her to give it a few weeks and I should be able to curl it on each end. Seriously though, nobody liked it but my wife. She understood the cause behind the stache.
After the shock wore off, I explained to the kids why dad had lip hair. It did make a difference in how they felt about it. But I still am getting some weird looks. It’s all in good fun though. See on the flip side; my kids love Peppa Pig! Through the years they’ve probably watched over a hundred episodes on Nick Jr. Daddy pig is an expert on most everything. And this month which is Movember, his focus is mustache growing. The idea is to change the face of men’s health. I think it’s pretty clever and a great way to support men everywhere in getting and staying healthy. Men can team up with Daddy Pig like me by growing out their mustache this month. We’ve also added some great activity sheets for you to print.
Check out the Daddy Pig’s official team page on Movember’s site for all the details.
You can also follow his hairy progress on his Facebook page.
My facial hair grows out straight and doesn’t really curl.
So by the end of this, I will either look like a state trooper or a manatee.
Also, you can follow my hairy progress on our Facebook page. And we would actually love it if you post your stache progress in the comments.
At the end of the day, we want daddies and men, in general, to stick around as long as possible by staying aware of their health.
Is there someone you know who is growing facial hair for November?
