We’re thankful that our kids’ bedtime is at 8:30 pm.  But we’re also thankful for our littlest waking us up each morning and asking for a pop-tart.  He’s quite the alarm clock.  Do you consider yourself a thankful person?  Is it just around Thanksgiving?  Being thankful is something we should practice all year.  It’s amazing how we can keep complaints and negative thoughts at the forefront of our minds, but expressing thanks has to be pulled out of us.

However, giving thanks can become a habit if you work at it.

I’ve heard that if you can do anything consistently for 30 days, it can become a habit.  So this holiday season, we hope to become habitually thankful.  Many people do what is called “30 Days of Giving Thanks.”  Every day you can write down something that you are thankful to have.  It doesn’t have to be something big, like your new yacht.  I think you can get more out of it by being thankful for the little things.

One thing my wife mentioned that is pretty cool has to do with your Halloween pumpkin.  Instead of throwing it in the trash, let it stick around and become the canvas for all of the blessings in your life.  If you have kids, this will be a fun project that will teach them the practice of thankfulness.  My kids from time to time can out complain me.  So this is important for our whole family to remind us of what’s important.  Your kids can write down each day something that they are thankful for in their life.

We also have a free printable below that you can use to keep as a reminder of all of the great people and things in your life.  Just save the image and print.
